ABOUT ANDY

MY NAME IS ANDY AND I HAVE BEEN HEAVILY INVOLVED IN THE TATTOO AND PIERCING INDUSTRY FOR OVER 10 YEARS.

It all started with a small studio in London where we grew the brand underground ink in to multiple studios around the world and in the uk, whilst working alongside some amazing piercers and body mod experts I started to learn the craft of piercings.

My biggest inspirations in the body mod world are good friends like Yann Brenyak, Brenno Alberti and Vicky Harris one of the first female UK body mod experts. They all kindly took me under their wing whilst working in my studios and taught me so much along the way.

After selling up and leaving most of everything I knew in the UK I went travelling around the world and saw many new things and met some amazing new people. I now reside in Australia and pierce at our private studio in DEE WHY ADDRESS IN CONTACT SECTION

Since travelling I realised the most important thing in life is health and happiness. I used to think being successful were materialistic objects and huge friends lists.

Now I realise its what you leave behind that counts, the smiles on customers faces and the recommendations that follow through you being professional with them is what makes you get up in the morning.

Starting a family across the other side of the world with my amazing fiancé. I have found peace and enjoy the simpler things in life like travel, witnessing beautiful sights and experiencing stunning views this country has to offer.

Im also very much enjoying expanding my network on a global scale and welcome good energy and calm people in my life now.

Thank you for reading and I hope we get to meet soon.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I treat an infected ear piercing?

If you think you have an infection, leave the jewellery in and visit us for a check-up. It’s normal for a piercing to be red, swollen and sore and what you are experiencing may be a very normal part of the healing process. You can try soaking the area in a saltwater mix (1/4 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in 1 cup of cooled down boiled water) for 5-10 minutes, twice a day.

What piercing should I get?

As long as your anatomy is suitable and you meet the age requirements (You can see if you meet the age requirements here: WWW.THEBEARDEDPIERCER.COM ) you can get any piercing you like! Got a pic of an idea you like? Show me! Andy can have a look to see what will work best for your body.

What is a Daith piercing?

Placed in the innermost part of the ear, the idea of a Daith piercing is to look like the jewellery is coming from the ear canal from certain angles.

When can I change my cartilage piercing?

We generally recommend leaving your initial jewellery in for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. After a check-up and we give you the all-clear, it is safe to change to a slightly shorter, sterile piece of jewellery. Cartilage piercings can take up to 6-12 months to fully heal and require patience before changing freely.

How do I hide a septum piercing?

Septum retainers are a thing, but it’s just as easy to continue wearing your initial horseshoe. If you struggle to flip your jewellery up, try squeezing your top lip together side-by-side and pulling down. This thins the area and makes for a smoother push up and back. VOILA! It’s like it was never there!

How do I clean a belly piercing?

Never remove the jewellery when cleaning a fresh piercing. Make sure the piercing spray you have is alcohol-free and in date. If you don’t have one already, come and grab one from us! Spray the area and ever so gently clean around it with a cotton tip or gauze. Make sure you rinse with clean water once dried. Don’t pick the crusties off with your fingers! Just let the hot water in the shower run over it until they wash away.

What do I do if my piercing is infected?

Before you do anything else, leave the jewellery in and come in to see us as soon as you can. We will do a check-up first to make sure it’s not just an irritation. Make up a saltwater solution (1/4 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in 1 cup of cooled down boiled water) and soak the area for 5-10 minutes, twice a day. Alternatively, you can visit your GP for antibiotics, but make sure to leave the jewellery in or else it may close up and cause a nasty cyst!

What is a dermal piercing?

A dermal is an implant piercing where the base sits underneath the skin – there is no exit point. You may see them more commonly on the face, wrists and chest. These little guys have interchangeable tops (not to be confused with skin divers), usually after about 3 months of insertion.

What is an industrial piercing?

An industrial piercing is most commonly referred to in the ear but is technically any two piercings joined by one piece of jewellery. Beware that this piercing takes the perfect anatomy to perform accurately and can sometimes take up at 12 months or more to fully heal.

What is a septum piercing?

A septum piercing is a piercing through the “sweet” spot placed in the tissue that divides the nostrils, normally up high near the tip of the nose inside. Pierced correctly it is fairly painless. Takes 4-8 weeks to heal or longer.

How long does it take for a tongue piercing to heal?

Roughly around 4-8 weeks. Swelling can last up to a week. Clean with a non-alcoholic mouth wash after every meal and drink nothing other than water, avoid smoking and alcoholic drinks while in the healing process.

How long does it take a nose piercing to heal?

Roughly around 6-8 weeks initially but can be anywhere from 3-4 months. Cleaning 2 times a day for 8 weeks

When can I change my helix piercing?

After 8 weeks, it should be healed and safe to change when there is no redness, discomfort, swelling, discharge or pressure bubbles present

How long does it take an ear piercing to heal?

For an Ear Piercing to heal it takes 4-8 weeks roughly? If at any stage, you are unsure how your piercing is healing, pop in the studio and chat to Andy

How to clean a nose piercing?

Grab your purple Protat aftercare spray, apply some onto your piercing, gently clean the area with a cotton tip then wait for it and wait for it to dry. Once dry, you can rinse off with fresh water to avoid irritation. Do this twice daily for the first 6-8 weeks and remember to come in for a free check-up to see how it’s going!

How to hide a nose piercing?

Stress no more! Did you know we have glass retainers available to pierce you with? Otherwise, we also sell basic retainers you can change to after a minimum of 6-8 weeks.

How long does a belly piercing take to heal?

It’s important to remember that every person has a different healing rate. Generally speaking, a navel piercing can take around 6-12 months to fully. We recommend upgrading your jewellery to titanium to promote better healing. generally, if healthy enough the piercing can be changed after 6-8 weeks.

How can I cover my ear piercing to go swimming?

We highly recommend avoiding any bodies of water (ocean, pool, bath etc.) for the first 6-8 weeks to avoid bacteria and chemicals. Try to keep your head above the water and make sure you take along your Protat aftercare spray to give your piercing a clean once you’re done.

How long does a piercing take to close up?

Every person’s body heals at a different rate. In most cases, it can be judged by how long it’s been pierced. Other things such as the thickness of jewellery and whether it was healed properly or not can be taken into account.
